Yes, yes... different. While in Japan, there was no Japan Hour.
Everything's in Japanese so we would just watch and try to
understand. Japanese TV is very interesting, although very banal
sometimes. The first time we were there (96-99), cable was just too
expensive so we had nothing in English. Didn't even have a
bilingual TV then so life was miserable. The second time we were
there (02-05), the economy had cooled off. Cable tv was affordable
and the base tv system for those living off base was in place. We
were sooo happy.
